Yuna, Yunalesca

Yes, but I also think that she does not want the dream to end. Zanarkand’s residents, led by Yevon, created a Dream Zanarkand. Yunalesca lived there, too. And, being an unsent, I think her views on the world are also somewhat skewed.
Also, when we compare the two unsent, Yunalesca and Auron, Auron dies violently and in despair. That depth of emotion is what keeps him unsent. In many ways, he clings to it, in order to prevent crossing over (like refusing to go into the Farplane). But we can view Yunalesca’s death two ways: one, she did not know she would die; both her death and Zaon’s was as abrupt as Auron’s and she remains unsent as a sort of vengeance. The second is that she knew she would die, she knew Zaon would die. She had accepted her death and that of Zaon’s but knew she had to it. ‘A little hope is better than no hope at all.’ She remains unsent out of duty, and since unsent remain by clinging to emotions, this sense of duty binds her, disallowing her from seeing another way. Killing Yunalesca really was a huge gamble, what would Yuna and her party have done if they hadn’t succeeded? Jecht and the Fayth—did they know that by sending Tidus there, that this would be the outcome? Did the fayth have a contingency plan? Bahamut repeatedly hints at what Yuna and her party could do to break the dream, but would Yunalesca have known? Or was the Aeons’ plan only a result of years and years of half-sentience and being forced to witness countless deaths? Does Yunalesca, in her chamber, sense the death of so many through the years, or does Yunalesca only manifest whenever pilgrams approach her temple, oblivious?

Exactly. I’ve often said that I prefer the X-2 Yuna because she smiles more. ^^d
