Tensou Sentai Goseiger ~ 11-16

Cheerleading! (Literal) teal deers! Gay S&M monster sex! …wait what?

short post is short because I barely remember any of it, since I watched these, uh…a month ago? (O_O) Plus I’m lazy.

In episode 11, SUDDENLY MOUNE IS A CHEERLEADER. Moune joined a cheerleading group to bring a smile to the face of a hospitalized child who’s undergoing surgery the next day. So sweet!

Predictably, the baddie of the week’s weakness is cheerleading. Energy conducted from the earth (ground vibrations?) specifically, but WHO DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING. I’m usually tolerant of this kind of thing (you can’t be a sentai fan otherwise), but I thought this was kinda blatant. Or maybe it’s because I’m looking back on it and the cheerleading is what I put in my tumblr notes. Eh, idk.

On episode 12, Mons Drake invites earthlings to be voyeurs to Derepta thrusting an axe into Mons Drake’s chest, upon which the dark planet power in Mons Drake’s body will attract the moon. I guess that’s what the old-timers call it these days.

RIGHTEOUS ANGELS DO NOT ABIDE BY GAY S&M SEX and Derepta gets killed.

P.s. The gravitational energy in Mons Drake’s body will never be mentioned again.

On episode 13, Mons Drake takes out his anger on his other lackey, Puredoran.

Poor Puredoran was never into the S&M.

On episode 14, Hyde and Moune TEAM UP. The title of this episode is called “The Strongest Combi” but there are a distinct lack of EXTRA X-TREME X-PLOSIONS. No, but seriously, the title seems kind of facetious because they never expand why this particular combi is so strong.

On episode 15, Mons Drake (who is the main baddie, remember) leeches oxygen from Earth into their spaceship, planning to smash it into Earth. Meanwhile, Nozomu and kids continue practicing their soccer. Uh….

They defeat Mons Drake and the spaceship. The end.

No, seriously, there isn’t even a teaser at the end of the episode to foreshadow ~*future enemies*~. That’s left to the preview. IT WAS SUCH A ROUSING VICTORY! …I guess?

Extra corner: Now let’s talk about cards. I have nothing against cards (my fav Rider is Kamen Rider ♥Blade♥), but the card thing in Goseiger is really awkward, especially for the henshin sequence, because the thing they stick their cards into is really, really awkward.

Instead of slashing the cards, they have to place the card into a slot. Face-up. It looks very clunky. Their team “cannon” attack looks worse for this, because they put their cards into the middle of the flat surface of their crossbow-looking thing, and then the cards get bigger, and….

TRUST ME IT IS VERY AWKWARD. I WOULD SHOW YOU IF I COULD FIND A VIDEO. D: Though they do show the thing less as the series goes on, but all sentai do that b/c it’s stock footage, and if they have enough content for their allotted time, I’m pretty sure the henshin/cannon-assembly footage are one of the first things they cut. BUT STILL.

Anyway, all their angel power is manifested by sticking those cards into the slot thing (pictured in that close-up above), and as they grow as angels, they get more cards/powers, related to their tribe/element. And they henshin with it and shit.

Also, there was a literal mecha teal deer somewhere in this batch of episodes (I think it showed up in the Derepta-death episode?), but it was so underwhelming. Goseiger seems to have a general pacing problem with introducing new characters/mecha. Remember the WALKING ARCADE THING that seemed awkwardly shoehorned in? Yeah, the mecha teal deer was kinda like that.

Wait, wasn’t Moune like the violent tomboy? And she became a cheerleader? And why is the strongest combi not with her brother? (lol kinda have a Moune bias)

in one of those screenshots, the subs actually said “mystical gibberish?” lol

    Ohoho, you may find innuendo in the alien s&m bit, but I feel like a child to find the pervertedness in -sticking cards into slots- amusing -_-;

btw is that walking arcade thing still walking around?

Well, Moune’s not really violent, per se. Just very enthusiastic about her training. |D She and Hyde are the strongest combi I guess b/c Moune is the impulsive one while Hyde is the logical, data-analyzing one. It’s just that the team rarely works in twos, and Moune-Hyde doesn’t ever seem any stronger than the tribe-specific combis, b/c the motw Hyde-Moune were strong against was such a specialized enemy anyway. The “strongest combi” doesn’t actually mean anything, is what I’m saying, and I bet it won’t ever come up again in future eps.

The sub says mystical gibberish because it is mystical gibberish. lol

The walking arcade thing became a mecha. No joke, it combines with the literal teal deer.

I WILL TRY TO GET THE NEXT ONE OUT SOONER
