The plural of ‘sai’ is ‘sais’, right? Can ‘sai’ be used as a plural (as in, ‘a pair of sai’)?
Also, how easy do you figure is it to flip between the two positions (“blade” out, hilt out), if you don’t mind me asking?

lol, watchu doin there? planning to learn sai or write about them? @_@
I usually refer to them as “sai” because “sais” sounds friggin weird. Since it’s Japanese, it was never meant to be pluralized in such a manner anyway, so… ^^;; (like… who says “samuraiS”?)
ok – for the flipping – what’s “easy”? lol. The movements are certainly simple enough (a move through three simple hand positions). There are a few mini-practices that get your hands used to the sai and to flipping them. Uhm… ask me again if you actually wanted me to explain it to you @_@ Otherwise – the flipping is easy, and as is for most cases, the flipping WELL takes training.

Just write–I play Mele in an RP, who uses sai. She doesn’t have weapons yet, but she possibly might, and I wanted to see if I could get her fighting just a little more accurate (because some characters are FAST–the time it takes to flip might well cost her, fantastical as that is, lol. But if it’s easy as you say, there prob’ly won’t be time to attack her while she’s flipping. C: )

yeh, except i have no tiemz, lol.
yar. flipping should be relatively fast. have fun with the RP =3
if it helps, samurai( or so my master said?) in the past used to carry 3 sai – 1 to throw, 2 to flip and use. (though it’s usually popularized as a ninja weapon… i’m not so sure samurai used it) also, check out teenage mutant ninja turtle, elektra (sp?), and mortal combat (i think) clips. they use different styles of sai, but you can get a quick look at speed and whatever @_@
